Telling stories in a commercial

Telling a story can look like almost anything. Sometimes it works because you create a character that you can completely inhabit. When I was asked to read for this part, I understood who George was immediately, and so, telling the story was easy. They let me improvise a lot of what happened in these commercials (Which is also a wonderful gift.) It didn't hurt that my partner in these commercials was a brilliant straight man.

It's the same thing that happens when I tell stories. I have to BE the character that I am describing. I have to believe in them, and know them well enough so that the audience will buy the portrayal, and in turn, buy the story itself. I guess that is what acting is all about, and I'm really blessed to be able to do this kind of work. Not just on stage, but in commercial work as well.
